There is a saying along the lines of nothing good you do will go unpunished. When trying to prepare our children for the challenges of the world and trying to be parents to them, it feels as if that saying targets us specifically. Of course, we all understand what it means to teach our kids various skills they will need. It is fascinating to see how long it takes adults to figure out the fact that their parents were teaching them valuable lessons. While they hated learning the lessons themselves, a little bit of maturity shows their appreciation for their lessons.

It’s challenging to have just one child, but so much more is involved with multiple children. You can’t go through a day as a parent just doing one thing. Yes, of course, there is a referee hat in their somewhere, too. Along the way, instill the lessons of understanding and tolerance among your children as early as you think they “get it.” There are multiple reasons for this, but it is primarily to prepare them for what they will need to know in their interactions with other children. It is part of the process of socializing your child that is absolutely vital to them becoming a great person. Have you ever been put in the situation where you did something that had negative results and your parents knew what the outcome would be beforehand but did nothing to stop it? You can understand and appreciate that you were being taught a harsh lesson. However, it’s probably a lesson you never forgot. You need to use good judgment when making these decisions and you just have to realize they will change according to the situations. While making their own decisions is a valuable lesson kids to learn, you need to make sure not to do it if the consequences are to o big.

Aside from not being loved by their parents, the hardest thing that a child has to deal with is not being accepted for what they really want and feel. As adults, a majority know what it feels like to be accepted. Plus, we have seen that it was hard to accept a few things about our children. But, when it is all said and done, they are still our children. Hopefully, all parents will advise their children that they are loved unconditionally and will always be welcomed in their home. The outside world may handle them in a different manner, but home is not like this as all.

Successfully parenting children involves teaching them a set of skills whereby they are able to cope with the external world. We are not able to and should not tackle their battles for them. This is why any child that has a healthy mindset will figure out how to handle the things that are presented to them.
